Happy Saturday

My awesome cousin arrived from Boston this morning and I'm taking a few days off this week to relax with her, read a little and bake. I made her favorite thing this morning and couldn't resist making this because The Pioneer Woman Cooks! can really sell a recipe. I read that post and re-read it . . . and then called others to read it with me again. I really didn't need convincing. The pie is chilling in the refrigerator as we speak and it looks like creamy, chocolate velvet.

More later...

I saw that recipe and I was considering making it, too. I opted for some oatmeal cookies instead - a little more portable. Speaking of portable, have you ever brought cookies to church? For yourself? I have.

um, no. Candy, lifesavers, gum. Never cookies.

Are you serious? I'm asking...

you guys are so funny! I have taken Ritz crackers... does that count as cookies? But they are more for the children... Cait, you dont have kids!

I love the pioneer woman. She takes great photographs and I hear she can cook. Never tried one of her recipes though. Let us know how you liked it.

Melissa.....ritz crackers??? they are SO MESSY! I started only bringing snacks for the little ones. My big kids throw the biggest fit. Like it's a given sacrament meeting equals snacks.

Caitlin cookies like a sacrament meeting snack? or because you had to teach a class and brought it in for a treat? You are FUNNY!

Enjoy your time with your cousin!

The pie . . . out of control. Like silk or velvet, much lighter than a mousse. Worth the 15-20 minutes of beating after adding each egg. This recipe is a keeper.

And Ritz crackers at church - funny.

Patti - first of all, I love your site!!! I've seen so many recipes that I can't wait to try. Especially your Mum's Chicken a la King!

Heather - I also love the Pioneer Woman, but not for her recipes! I think she is an awesome writer, a good photographer, but just an okay cook. I've made many of her recipes and always think - that was okay. I do love her "Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich" though. It was wonderful. I haven't tried any of her desserts except for her Chocolate Sheet cake. Maybe I should give this one a try?! I loved your blog too! I also have 4 kids (with 1 girl) and LOVE photography!!! Seems we have a bit in common! ;)

Happy Cooking!
Kathy...
